Marta Masferrer is a Cuban-American director, producer and editor whose films have screened at festivals internationally including Cinequest, Cannes Short Film Corner, and SXSW, among many others. Her graduate thesis film, ASTERNAUTS showed at over 40 international film festivals picking up over 13 awards including Porto7 International Short Film Festival (Best Screenplay), HollyShorts Film Festival (Best Cinematography), Cortopolis Festival International de Madrid (Audience Award), Boston Sci-Fi (Best Short SciFi), and Columbia University (Best Student Short).
In June of 2019, Marta was selected to attend the “Sounds of Summer” Film Accelerator program led by renown Argentinian filmmaker Lucrecia Martel. Marta’s scene was selected as a compilation for a feature film version that is currently under development. Marta was also a 2020 finalist for the NBC Tips Alternative Directing program, a professional directing initiative for unscripted programming for shows such as America’s Got Talent and World of Dance.
Previously, Marta was an alumna of the Berlin Talent Campus where was also a Finalist for the Berlin Talent Award and of the UCLA Professional Screenwriters program. She is an AIVF Screenwriting Fellow, a NALIP Documentary and Narrative Fellow, and an IFP New York Project Involve Honoree. She served as one of the editors on LAS MARTHAS, a PBS documentary that premiered on Independent Lens in 2014. Marta received her MFA in Film Directing from Columbia University where she was awarded a Dean’s Fellowship, and her BFA in Fine Art from Carnegie Mellon University where she was awarded the Wilfred Readio Award for Artistic Achievement.
Over the course of her career, Marta has partnered with production companies, public relation firms, advertising companies, non-profits, and networks alike to create multi-platform, digital content.
